Dig in and help us bring the summer gardens to life! Over the next three weeks, our Horticulture Team will be transforming garden beds across Powell Gardens—and we need your helping hands!
Whether you can volunteer for an hour or a whole morning, every plant you place makes a difference. This is a great opportunity to get your hands in the dirt, enjoy time outdoors, and see your impact grow right before your eyes!
Planting Schedule:
Fountain & Visitor Center Annual Changeover

Thursday, May 15 – Start Time: 9:00 AM
• Continue at the Front VC Beds → then on to the Island Beds (if time allows)
Apple Court & Butterfly Habitat

Tuesday, May 20 – Start Time: 10:30 AM
• Apple Court planting begins! -
Wednesday & Thursday, May 21–22 – Start Time: 9:00 AM
• Continue Apple Court + install Rudbeckia in Butterfly Habitat
Terrace Plantings with Honeywell Volunteers

Thursday, May 29 – Start Time: 9:00 AM
• Help plant VC Terrace beds alongside the Honeywell group
• Even an hour helps—great opportunity for staff & volunteers to jump in!
Weather Policy: Planting will be rescheduled or paused in case of rain.
Directions:
Please park in the Visitor Center lot and head to the location listed in your volunteer sign-up. Groups will be assigned and briefed before heading out. Don’t forget to check in with the event lead upon arrival!
What to Bring:
• Garden-friendly clothes & close-toed shoes
• Water bottle, snacks, sunscreen
• Garden gloves if you have them (we’ve got spares too!)
